Development of a nature-based solutions (NBS) database in South Carolina
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship
    • Created database of 190+ NBS case studies throughout the entire state to store information about their location, scale, benefits aimed to achieve, cost, funding sources, permit/maintenance information, and challenges faced
    • Produced ArcGIS storymap to make information publicly accessible to SC practitioners and residents who are interested in implementing NBS in their communities
    • Analyzing how the spatial distribution of NBS sites correlates with the hydrologic connectivity, landscape diversity, and carbon storage potential of their watersheds
  • 2022.08 - 2022.12
Resilient stormwater management design for Mexico Beach, Florida
    Clemson Senior Design Capstone Project
    • Calculated hydrologic parameters and developed hydraulic design for a wet detention pond
    • Developed visual renderings of our design for a town affected by extreme coastal flooding
  • 2022.06 - 2022.08
Environment Sustainability and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

    • Studied aspects of sustainability in Pamplona, Spain using life cycle assessments (LCA) and GIS
    • Enhanced Spanish language skills through immersion in a town with few English speakers

Work

  • 2024.06 - 2024.08
    Geospatial Intern
    Robinson Design Engineers, Charleston, SC
    • Ran semi-automated algorithm in MATLAB to extract tidal creek parameters using LiDAR data
    • Calculated parameters such as sinuosity, drainage density, and overmarsh path length of tidal creek reference systems to inform the design of a 7 acre salt marsh restoration project in collaboration with the SC Department of Natural Resources
    • Developed theoretical green roof hydrology model to understand their potential for flood mitigation in the Southeast
  • 2023.06 - 2023.08
    Hydrologist Intern
    Robinson Design Engineers, Charleston, SC
    • Computed hydrologic/hydraulic design calculations for various stormwater control measures using WINTR-55 and HEC-RAS
    • Produced ArcGIS storymap to relay information to a homeowner's association about nature-based stormwater management practices within their neighborhood
    • Created graphic materials for a petition to save Gadsden Creek, one of the last remaining tidal creeks on the Charleston peninsula, from development
  • 2022.08 - 2023.04
    GIS Intern
